A guesthouse is a lodging facility where a non-Japanese person could stay in Japan, from one month to a mid-range term, and in the recent years, the culture of the cheap lodges (guesthouses) travelled from overseas to Japan, and there are many real estate agencies and personal business entrepreneurs who are working on the project. In Japan, as the initiative fees are cheap and as it is possible for intercultural communication, it is getting popular amongst young people, and has become one of the choice as a rental housing. Throughout the evolution of this business, as it is easier for the Japanese people to get the idea better, there are many management companies that are calling it a share house.

The difference between normal apartments and guesthouses.

In a normal rental housing, there is a studio type apartments that has shower, toilet, kitchen and all the necessities for everything inside a room, and other rental rooms that have the facilities in several rooms. In a guesthouse, the toilet, shower room, and kitchen are basically shared, and to be used with the other tenants inside the property.
The initiative fees are cheap, and the main difference between a normal rental housing is that there is no deposit and key money to move in.

Single Room

The popular type of rooms to people who needs a little privacy, and time alone. All of the rooms have keys, and although it depends on the property, there are air conditioner, TV, bed, refrigerator, table, chair inside the room. Compared to a sharing room, the rent fees are a little more expensive.

Dormitory

The type of rooms that has several beds (bunk beds) inside bigger rooms. The biggest advantage is that compared to a single room, it is much cheaper. Compared to the single rooms, most dormitory rooms have only curtains to part each space, and there are less privacy. Men’s and Women’s room are mostly divided. In most cases, there are safes and lockers to keep valuables inside. There are many people who use it as a step up for fulfilling their dreams and destinations.
